Wouldn’t it be cool to be able to know exactly what animals, and dogs specificlly, thinks and feels? I think that would be really awesome information to have as an animal lover!
For instance, maybe you have a dog that are afraid of the vacum cleaner? Or he barks at every dog you meet? Or on certain people? Wouldn’t it be nice to know exactly why he does that? Knowing exactly what he is thinking in those exact moments.
Neither of us will probably every figure out the answers to these questions, or learning to “read a dogs mind”.
But dogs have lived so long with humans throughout the history so they have developed a sepcial kind of way to express there love for their humans. How they express their love is easy to miss if you don’t know what you are looking for.
And I don’t mean that everytime your buddy yawns, he shows his love for you. But when he does it at the same time as you do it is probably because he has a special bond with you.
Humans that yawns when someone else do is because they are empathic. It’s not possible to know if dogs are empathic like humans, but it means that they have a special bond to you. They are also more likely to yawn at the same time as their owner compared to a stranger.
So the next time you need to yawn, have a look over at your pup and see if he does the same thing as you do! Then you know what it mean this time!
2. Leaning against you
When your dog leans against you, they can do it for different reasons. It can be because he is anxious, or he wants someting or want you to do something. However the leaning is also a sign of affection.
Even if he is leaning on you because he is anxious or nervous, he sees you as someone that can keep him safe and help him deal with whatever is bothering him or help him out with what ever the problem is.
3. Cuddling After Food
If he comes to you and wants to cuddle after he has eaten, it is a strong sign that he does infact love you. That is atleast what Gregory Berns says in his book “How Dogs Love Us“.
Most people know that dogs are highly motivated by food, it is their survival instinct, but according to Gregory, when your dog has eaten all of the food he got in his bowl, what he does next is a clear sign of what is the most important to him besides food.
But some dogs need to go to the bathroom right after their meal, but don’t mistake that for being more important than you..
Watch your him after every meal that you give your dog, and if he comes to you after one of the meals, well that is a sign that he indeed loves you.
My own dog always comes after he has eaten in the evening. He comes running right to me and starts rubbing his face on my, like he is wiping away food around his mouth. When he is done he sits close to me an leans to me.
I never really understood before that this is a strong sign that he really does love me. That is good feeling.
4. Calm When You Leave
According to Gregory Berns, if your dog can sit and watch you calmly as you leave your home, that is a sign that he trusts you and loves you and that he knows that you will come back.
However, if he goes into panic mode when you leave, he is suffering from seperation anxiety. Sorry to say but seperation anxiety is one of the most difficult problem that solve.
However, if your dog does have it, I can recommend that you check out a guy called “Doggy Dan” he is one of Australia’s top dog trainer and he shows you how you can deal with this problem in an easy way in his online dog training course called “The Online Dog Trainer” (It’s not just about your dog, its more about what you do)
5. Sleeping Close To You
When you are going to sleep tonight, have a look and see where your dog goes to sleep. Because seeing where you dog likes to sleep at night is a good sign if he loves you or not.
If he wants to sleep with you in your bed or right beside your bed (or just in your room) then that is a clear sign that he loves you and that he doesn’t want to get sperated from his pack members.
But ofcourse if he sleeps in another room, that doesn’t necesserily mean that he doesn’t love you. It could just mean that it is to hot in your bedroom and your dog want to have it a bit cooler when he goes to sleep?
6. His Favorite Toy
If he brings you his favorite toy it doesn’t necessarily mean that he just wants to play with you. Wanting to play with you is a sign of love as well, but because he gives you his favorite toy he probably sees you as his pack leader.
Because of this he wants to give you the nicest thing he got in hopes you will enjoy it as much as he does. So show a bit of appreciation the next time he comes over with his favorite and finest toy that he got.
If he brings you his toy when you get back home, that is like a welcome gift. He is happy that you are there. This however doesn’t just apply to you, it applies to other people come over to your house as well. It’s like you brining a beer to your friend when they come over.
Dogs are just full of love and they can probably show you they love you in lots more ways then this list suggests! And ofcourse every dog is different and might not show their love in the same ways. How does your pup show you he loves you? Tell us in the comments!
And if you believe that dogs are man’s best friend and that your dog loves you, SHARE the love on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or anywhere else!
